Somerset Cuts the Arts Yesterday Somerset County Council voted to cut all its £160,000 grant to ten arts organisations, including the Brewhouse Theatre and the Bridgwater Arts Centre which currently receives £10,500 and now fears it will have to lose a member of staff. Thirty Conservative councillors voted in favour with 21 Liberal Democrat and two Labour members voting against a total cuts package of £43m. The county also supports the Creative Industries through a second fund of £160,000 which will now be shared with arts organisations to help them become "self-funding and self-sustaining".
