Dateline: 17th June, 2004 Children's Show Available for 2005 Tour The Sorcerer's Apprentice Based on the poem by J.W. Goethe, The Sorcerer's Apprentice tells the cautionary tale of a young would-be wizard who, left to his own devices by his master, casts his own magic spells with disastrous and comic consequences.
Kazzum's version of the tale is inspired by Vietnamese Water Puppetry a centuries old form in which puppeteers stand in a pond operating hand carved and painted wooded puppets by rod and wire from behind a bamboo screen. Developed from our 2000 co-production with The Bull Theatre, The Sorcerer's Apprentice will incorporate a large water tank as well as beautiful puppets, object manipulation, shadow play, fishing rods and original music. The play contains some dialogue but is predominantly non-verbal. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is 45 minutes in duration. Performed by two puppeteers, it requires a performance space of 20 x 20 feet and access to a fast flowing water supply (don't worry, only the puppeteers will get wet!). "the performance is clever and striking, the set is ingeniously constructed and the youngsters were enraptured, appreciating not only the comedy in the play but also its beauty" The Stage, 2000 Kazzum is taking bookings for thsi show now.
