Spacey Gets Will Award Kevin Spacey has been awarded the 2006 William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (the Will Award), given by the Shakespeare Theatre Company of Washington DC to recognise a theatre professionals outstanding contribution to classical theatre in America. Previous recipients of the award include Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Fiona Shaw, Ralph Fiennes, Patrick Stewart, Lynn Redgrave, Kenneth Branagh and Jeremy Irons. Spacey began his career with an appearance in Joseph Papps 1981 production of Henry IV Part I in Central Park, directed by Des McAnuff, in which heplayed the Messenger. He will be presented with his award at a gala evening on 13th May. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
