The Leeds-based West Yorkshire Playhouse has announced a number of new productions for the spring season.

Homage to Catalonia

Electricity
Murray Gold’s new play demonstrates what can happen when personal territory is invaded and traditional class boundaries and faulty wiring are ignored.

Blonde Bombshells of 1943
A new musical by Alan Plater, ispired by his TV film
In the Quarry Theatre
24th April to 22nd May

Vodou Nation
A multi-media montage of dance, video, carnival and ceremony created and designed by Brett Bailey
In the Quarry Theatre
1st to 26th June

Bat Boy: The Musical
Somewhere between Edward Scissorhands and My Fair Lady - a classic love story with a bite!
Music and Lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, with Story and Book by Keythe Farley and Brian Fleming
In the Courtyard Theatre
21st June to 17th July

The season also includes many visiting productions, including the West End Shakespeare's R&J, Northern Stage's Animal Farm, Mind the Gap's Cyrano, David Hare's The Permanent Way and Northern Broadsides' The Merchant of Venice.
