Rajni Shah present
Mr. Quiver
A story about Queen Elizabeth I, a traditional Indian bride, about the relationships we have to the land we live on, and the theatres we all invent. Expect passion, politics, haunting vocals and stunning visuals.
In a double bill with...

ChoppedLogic present
Paramour
Traversing paper, dust, and the lost words of strangers, this is a search for the truth that tears hearts from their envelopes, and smudges the ink of other lives. A fascinating exploration of love in isolation, of the heartbreak of the unspoken word.

Thursday 2nd June-Saturday 4th June, 8.00pm
Rotozaza present
OOFF
Mini Lavette opens her brain - we walk in. Mini Lavette, a sport-obsessed teenager with a whistle, gets mixed up in her own pre-recorded instructions; we see a rehearsed body moving between: two uncertain figures and a sonic soup-stream of commands.

Tuesday June 7th- Wednesday June 8th, 8.00pm
Hey Ho Ha present
***
Yuki longs to leave her humdrum existence, to lose herself, become snow. Determined to pursue her passion, she sets off on a journey, weaving between reality and fantasy, into a wonderland filled with the magic of falling snowflakes, each unique, each with a glittering array of possibilities...

Thursday June 9th - Friday June 10th, 7:30pm
Mischa Twitchin presents
Klamm's Dream
Unfolding from Kafka's description of himself as "a memory come alive, hence also my sleeplessness", Klamm's Dream is a monologue for two voices - heard between writing and dreaming. In a collage of fragments from Adorno, Artaud, Kafka and Levi, the performance explores a knowledge of violence in the relation between the individual and society.
In a double bill with ...

Igor de Quadro presents
Methology
Embarking on a journey of obsession and self-discovery, an actor struggles to achieve a level of differentiation between himself and the shadowy characters he's adopted. This playful voyage into the land of the subconscious takes a look at the multiple personalities that make up every person, addressing that pseudo-Freudian conundrum: "Which of these characters is the real me?"

And at 8.00 pm
Exit Strategy present
Crowd Study #4
(A free foyer event)
A journey, a dream, an incantation. A trip through the slipknots of language. Using spoken text only, Crowd Study #4 looks at the voices hidden within speech and the shifting dynamics of belief and awareness when listening to a story. There are more of us in the room than you may be aware.

Saturday 11th June- Sunday 12th June 10.30am-4.00pm
Para-Active
Workshops: Beside and Beyond
Para-Active's intensive workshop fosters ensemble awareness and physical improvisational skills giving you the chance to assimilate the principles of Para-Active's training into making work that is about taking risks, aesthetically and physically. The focus of the work will be on rhythm and song. Suitable for those interested in exposing themselves to an alternative in performing and challenging their existing viewpoints. A level of physical fitness required.

Sunday June 12th 5:15pm
Forbidden Theatre Company present
Freestyle
Brace yourself for a stunning freestyle performance! During this celebration of theatricality, company members present short, work-in-progress pieces mixing surrealism, movement, text, and music. A celebratory atmosphere is guaranteed with the mix of spontaneity, verve, food and drink.

Tuesday 14th June- Wednesday 15th June, 8:00 pm
The Special Guests present
Underneath All the Noise Someone Was Singing
Underneath All the Noise Somebody was Singing focuses the spotlight on those left out of the gang, the lonely hearts left on the shelf and the stage hands who make sure the magic happens right on cue.
Four charismatic performers begin as a close-knit gang, testing their levels of physical endurance, walking the path of least resistance but ending up with egg on their faces.
A heartbreaking speech is delivered whilst nobody listens, packed lunches are eaten, dinner is served and from the shadowy stage wings, a loner manipulates encounters with the turn of a skipping rope.

Saturday 18th June-Sunday 19th June, 8.00pm
Song Theatre present
I Am A Cloud
I am a Cloud explores the feeling of isolation and experiences of not belonging, digging up the memories of growing up, experiencing the lightness of life - as light as the clouds; flowing in the collective civilization like blowing in the wind; asking the question "Where should I be? " in the contemporary world.

Saturday 18th June-Sunday 19th June
A Weekend with Apocryphal

Saturday 18th June 12.00pm
Cutting It Up: the workshop
3hrs
Using techniques inspired by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin of cutting and pasting everyday words, phrases and gestures, Barclay will lead a 3-hour workshop of improvisational explorations of text and movement focusing on issues of gender, religion, and class with a special emphasis on levels of address and presence.

5.00pm
The Jesus Guy
The Jesus Guy is an experimental stage-text written by Barclay, which has open spaces for improvisational text and movement by the performers. Apocryphal will present an informal reading of this text with members of the company, wherein they will respond to the text using the theatrical tools we have discovered in the lab. The Jesus Guy addresses the struggle to name nameless experience and the seemingly overwhelming desire to have Someone in charge.

Sunday 19th June 2.00pm
Lab showing
Apocryphal Theatre will present some of the experiments undertaken in our lab over the past year investigating levels of presence and address with a special thematic focus on the issue of sacred and secular presence. Anyone interested in the process of creating new performative techniques are welcome. After the showing, we would be interested to hear from you what you have seen and get any feedback you are willing to share with us.

5.00pm
Heart Oven Falling: Gotcha!
The first theatrical piece developed by members of the lab with Barclay. The basis of both very different works is the aphasic e-mails sent to Barclay from her father since he had a stroke last year. Aphasia affects the language centre of the brain, creating a disassociation of words from what we think they mean. The structure of the piece is improvisational, including movements through levels of presence and address, using the emails as the only spoken words, gestures created in response to ideas and emotions evoked from this process, and objects accumulated while creating the piece, including an abandoned dollhouse found on the street in Stoke Newington.

Tickets vary in price from Pay What You Can for some performances to £40 for workshops. Most tickets are £10.00 Full, £6 Concs (unless otherwise stated) and £12.00 (£8)for Double Bills (where applicable).

Tickets cab be booked by phoning the box office on 08700 600 100 (24hrs, no booking fee) or online at www.cptheatre.co.uk
