Starry cast on Bolton's Winter Hill

Octagon Theatre Bolton has cast its forthcoming world première production of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s new play Winter Hill.

The all-female cast will feature Cathy Tyson as Irene, Denise Black as Dolly, Louise Jameson as Beth, Fiona Hampton as Emma and Janet Henfrey as Felicity.

Joining them will be Souad Faress as Vivian, Eva-Jane Willis as Alex and Susan Twist as The Fury.

The production will be directed by Octagon artistic director Elizabeth Newman.

Set in Bolton in the near future, it centres on a group of eight local women as they deal with the ramifications of land being sold to create a luxurious skyscraper.

Wertenbaker’s play explores how a group of seemingly ordinary women endeavour to protect their local community, no matter the cost, and questioning the lengths people go to for a cause they believe in and at what point does the fight for freedom become terrorism?

It runs from May 11 to June 3.
