Zia Trench

BTG Reviewer's West End Play

The State We're In, the first full-length play by BTG reviewer Zia Trench, is to have a rehearsed reading at the West End's Trafalgar Studios on Friday, 1st February at 3.00pm.

About peace-protester Brian Haw who has camped on Parliament Square for eight years, the 70 minute play is directed by Poppy Burton-Morgan and the cast will be Samuel West, Raquel Cassidy, Liana Weafer and Ria Jones. Tickets are £5 (phone 020 8544 7524 to book) and profits go to the writer's charity International Pen.

Tommy Price has spent eight years protesting in Parliament Square, the government have spent eight years trying to get rid of him - and this time it looks like the government is winning. But Tommy won't go back to his wife and family - he won't give up his right to speak out, his right to speak.

Written by the award winning political journalist zia trench, this sharp new play looks at the man behind the protest and how battles fought for liberty can cost a man his wife, his home & his sanity.

PEN exists to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere, to fight for freedom of expression and represent the conscience of world literature.
