Strictly Come Dancing winner Katya Jones is to make her pantomime debut in Peterborough New Theatre’s 2019 show The Wizard of Oz.

Jones, who joined the Strictly team as a professional dancer in 2016, took the glitter ball trophy home when she won the following year with partner Joe McFadden.

The former world professional Latin showdance champion will play Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz.

She said, “The Wizard of Oz will be a first for me, so I think we’re a little over-excited! I’ll be swapping my dancing shoes for a pair of wings as Glinda and I can’t wait to bring some sparkle to Peterborough New Theatre.”

The Wizard of Oz will be staged by Prime Pantomimes as part of its debut season. It was founded by Selladoor Worldwide and Immersion Theatre Company. The show will be written and directed by James Tobias with choreography by Philip Joel.

The Wizard of Oz will run at Peterborough New Theatre from Saturday 14 until Tuesday 31 December.
