Northamptonshire venue The Core at Corby Cube has revealed that its creative director Chris Sudworth is to leave in June to become executive director of the Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham.

Sudworth has been at The Core at Corby Cube since May 2010. The venue opened in November 2010.

He said, “I’m immensely proud of all that’s been achieved in the five years I’ve been at The Core. It’s been a wonderful experience to play a key role in the creation of a new venue that sits at the centre of its community, with children and young people at the heart of its vision.

“It’s been a privilege to work hand in hand with the people of the town, our excellent staff team, our trustees and the many committed partners that continue to make The Core such a success.”

Chair of The Core’s board Morag Ballantyne added, “we’re proud of all that Chris has achieved at The Core and the impact his work has had in the community. We thank Chris for his significant contribution to the organisation.”

Martin Sutherland, chief executive of Northamptonshire Arts Management Trust on behalf of The Core at Corby Cube commented, “our immediate challenge is to find a worthy successor who can continue to develop our vision, and we expect the recruitment process to begin imminently.”
