Following its award-winning intimate productions of musicals, including the critically acclaimed productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Sunday in the Park with George, The Last Five Years and Tick Tick Boom!, the Menier Chocolate Factory is to present the world premiere of a new musical by Richard Maltby, Jr., and David Shire, with book by John Weidman, Take Flight. Take Flight weaves together fact and fiction to tell the funny, moving and inspirational stories of the pioneers of flight – the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. Sally Ann Triplett will play Amelia Earhart but no other casting has yet been announced. The creative team sees the award winning trio of Sam Buntrock (Director), David Farley (Designer) and Caroline Humphris (Musical Supervisor) return fresh from their Olivier Award winning success with Sunday in the Park with George. This project is their first time re-united prior to transferring Sunday to Broadway this winter. Previewing from 13th July, Take Flight opens on 25th and is booking initially until 22nd September.
