Treasure Island

After an opening weekend at Liverpool’s Unity Theatre in April, Mate Productions sets sail for a steam-powered outdoor tour of parks, woodlands, halls and gardens across Merseyside with a reimagining of Robert Louis Stephenson’s pirate classic Treasure Island, before heading up to Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August.

Directed and produced by artistic director Gaynor La Rocca, with music by Taran Harris, the nautical odyssey features steampunk-inspired design, percussion, choreography, battles and a crew of actors, dancers, singers and musicians.

Mate Productions casts off this Saturday at Prescot Woodland Theatre.

Established in 2000, it is a theatre and community arts organisation based in Prescot in Knowsley that specialises in storytelling of literary classics through theatre, site-specific work and socially important work in community venues.
