2005 Tap Water Awards Winners

The Edinburgh Fringe Tap Water Awards were set up as an alternative to the Perrier Awards because of unethical practices of Nestle, the owners of Perrier. A Perrier nominee, Mark Thomas, explained, "Perrier has hijacked comedians’ talents, and is riding on their backs…We are being used to endorse a brand where the parent company has got huge question marks over its ethical behaviour, and we're not going to play."

The Tap Water Awards, unlike the Perriers, do not focus solely on comedy but cover all aspects of the Fringe.

The winners for 2005 are:

  1. Children of the Sea: Theatrum Botanicum (Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh)
  2. Halo Boy and the Village of Death: Westminster School (C Venue)
  3. Cabaret Decandanse: Soma (Gilded Balloon Teviot)
  4. Immortal2: No Fit State Circus (The Big Top @ Out of The Blue Tramworks)
  5. Owen O’ Neill: for Owen O’ Neill: Chasing My Tale (The Stand Comedy Club)
  6. A Shut Up Comedy from Japan: Gamarjobat (C Electric)
  7. Aurora Nova Venue Award for Outstanding overall performances, Aurora Nova @ St. Stephens
  8. Apocalypso Now: Rob Newman (The Bongo Club)
