Mark Gatiss and Adrian Scarborough, who will lead the cast of Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III at Nottingham Playhouse, will take a theatregoer for afternoon tea as part of a charity auction.

The pair will be raising money for the Playhouse’s 70th anniversary fund, with the auction being held during an anniversary gala on Thursday 22 November. The theatre hopes to raise £25,000 from the event.

Playhouse chief executive Stephanie Sirr said, “afternoon tea with Mark Gatiss and Adrian Scarborough is the first of many amazing prizes we’re due to offer at our exclusive auction.

“Many people don’t realise that Nottingham Playhouse is a charity, so we’re continually looking to raise funds for the important work we do at the theatre and within the community.

“The gala is set to be lots of fun, with a number of famous faces due to join us at the event. We want it to be a chance for people to get dressed up, enjoy an amazing show and raise money for causes that really do make a huge difference to people in Nottingham and the East Midlands.”

Andrew Scott, Nicola Walker and former Playhouse artistic director Kenneth Alan Taylor will be among the guests at the gala. Tickets cost £80 each. Further information is available at the Nottingham Playhouse web site.
