Danielle Gearing, who trained at Birmingham School of Acting, takes a “unique” look at one of the world’s most famous women in The Life and Death of Marilyn Monroe as part of Birmingham Fest.

Gearing set up Breakthrough Theatre, which is dedicated to creating and developing new writing. “We want to create theatre that’s fresh and compelling, that breaks boundaries, pushes people’s way of thinking and is vibrant and inspiring,” she said.

“We’re proud to be producing our first show. This is the real story of Marilyn, the life behind the façade. It’s brilliant to be bringing such an important piece of work to my home city.”

The Life and Death of Marilyn Monroe runs at the Blue Orange Theatre, Birmingham from Friday 14 until Sunday 16 July.
