The Smallest Show On Earth tours from September

The 1957 film The Smallest Show on Earth which starred Peter Sellers and Margaret Rutherford has been adapted for the stage by Thom Southerland and Paul Alexander who have penned the book for the show which features songs by Irving Berlin.

Thom Southerland, who also directs, has said, “Berlin’s music provides the perfect accompaniment to our 1950s story, not only in lyric, but in style and period too.” As well as Berlin greats such as "Blue Skies", "Shakin’ the Blues Away", "Let Yourself Go" and "Steppin’ Out with my Baby" the show features rediscovered gems.

Liza Goddard leads the cast which includes Brian Capron (Coronation Street, Where the Heart Is, Grange Hill) Haydn Oakley, Laura Pitt-Pulford (recently leading in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at London's Open Air Theatre Regent's Park), Ricky Butt, Philip Rham, Christina Bennington, Sam O’Rourke and Matthew Crowe.

Leo Andrew, Jacob Chapman, Matthew Dale, Nova Skipp and Leah West complete the cast.

The Smallest Show On Earth opens at Colchester's Mercury Theatre on 25 September then tours to:
