Theatre Book Prize Competition

The winner of the Theatre Book Prize for books published during 2010 will be announced at 11.45 am on Wednesday May 18th at a reception in the Grand Saloon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane when the judges will speak about the books.

Five books are in centention for the award:

  • Actors and Acting in Shakespeare's Time
    by John H. Astington (Cambridge University Press)
  • Diaghilev & the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes 1909-1929
    edited by Jane Pritchard (V & A Publications)
  • Putting It On: the West End Theatre of Michael Codron
    by Michael Codron and Alan Strachan (Gerald Duckworth)
  • The Reluctant Escapologist
    by Mike Bradwell (Nick Hern Books)
  • Shakespeare on Stage: Thirteen Leading Actors on Thirteen Key Roles
    by Julian Curry (Nick Hern Books)

The awarder of the prize, the Society for Theatre Research, is offering two tickets for the ceremony to readers of the BTG in a competition. To enter, you need to answer the question:

Who was the winner of the prize for 2009 and what was the title of the winning book?

Answers should be emailed to [email protected] by midday on Sunday 8th May. All those who answer the question correctly will be entered into a draw for the tickets and the winner will be notified on Monday 9th May.

Please note the usual rules for such competitions: no correspondence will be entered into and the decision of the judges will be final.
