Consett Empire reopens in September with a wide-ranging programme of screenings, music from Joe McElderry via disco to hits of the 'fifties and 'sixties, comedy, dance and theatre.

The theatre programme begins on 29 September with a one night only performance of the comedy Dirty Dusting starring Vicki Michelle (‘Allo ‘Allo!), Vicky Entwistle (Coronation Street) and local favourite Leah Bell.

17 February brings The Cinder Path, a brand new musical drama based on the book by Catherine Cookson starring Nick Cochran and Leah Bell with a cast of 15 actors and singers.

Then on 29 March, the Empire hosts Friends: The Musical Parody.

Ballet fans are catered for by two productions from the Russian National Ballet on 20 November: Sleeping Beauty at 2:30 and Swan Lake at 7:30.

This year’s panto is Treasure Island, the tenth to be produced at the theatre by Leah Bell, which runs from 2 November to 31 December (various times).
