Theatre people in the New Year Honours List

Actress Sheila Hancock, whose career has spanned more than six decades, has been made a Dame in this year's New Year Honours List for services to drama and to charity. Hancock was made a CBE in 2011 and OBE in 1974.

Graham Vick, founder and artistic director of Birmingham Opera Company and also a CBE, has received a Knighthood for services to music and to the regions.

OBE actress Lesley Manville has been made CBE for services to drama and to charity, whilst actor Toby Jones and Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor were made OBE for services to drama.

EastEnders' Nina Wadia received hers for services to entertainment and to charity, and writer and producer Gerald Mercurio—whose credits include television's Line of Duty and Bodyguard—received his for services to television drama.

OBEs also went to Sharon Watson and David Hamilton of Phoenix Dance Theatre for services to dance, and to Philip Cross, the co-founder of Starcross Youth Theatre, for services to young people.
