Theatre503 at Latitude

Theatre503 opens and closes the theatre tent at Latitude, presenting more work than any other company, all created specially for the festival.

Epic by Matt Hartley (Thursday 15th July, 7.30-8.30pm and Sunday 18th July, 9.25pm-10.25pm) was commissioned for Latitude and is a story of love and faith on a galactic scale. Travelling between the intimate and the infinite, Matt Hartley's new play is an astonishing journey into the unexplained. With a cast of 14, it is the biggest play Theatre503 has ever produced.

Matt Hartley won Manchester Royal Exchange's Bruntwood Award for Sixty Five Miles in 2007. His other credits include Punch (Hampstead Theatre), The Bee (Edinburgh) and Sentenced (Union Theatre).

PlayLIST (Sunday 18th July, 4.25pm) features nine new plays by Danny Kanaber, Tom Morton Smith, Hannah Mulder, Ben Ockrent, Sian Owen, Lola Stephenson, Colin Teevan, Jack Thorne and Rosalind Wyllie.

The festival edition of Theatre503's regular sell-out event is inspired by the music of artists playing at Latitude and the only rule given to the playwrights is that each play shiuld be no longer than the piece of music that inspired it.
