Dateline: 6th June, 2005 No Joy for Brits in Tonys There were no British winners in the 59th Tony Awards, announced yesterday. Monty Python's Spamalot won Best Musical but, although written by Eric Idle with music by John du Prez, it is an American, not a British, production. The Pillowman did win two awards - Best Scenic Design of a Play (Scott Pack) and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Brian MacDevitt) - but both of these winners are American. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
