Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre was named Regional Theatre of the Year by The Stage newspaper.
Artistic director Sarah Frankcom and executive director Fiona Gasper accepted the award which recognised all aspects of its work from critically acclaimed productions such as The Skriker and Yen to its support for new writing.
Sarah Frankcom said: “we are thrilled that the Royal Exchange and the work we do in Manchester and across the country has been recognised. This is a true team effort.
"In a year that has seen regional theatre thoroughly scrutinised, The Stage has provided a platform for informed and intelligent debate.”
