Theatre of the Oppressed Training
From December 2004 as leading practitioners of Forum Theatre, Cardboard
Citizens are happy to be hosting specialist training courses in various
aspects of the Theatre of the Oppressed. The courses will be led by
Augusto Boal and Adrian Jackson, with the participation of members of
Cardboard Citizens, Britain's only homeless people's professional theatre
company.
Our first training course will be a Joker Weekend led by Adrian Jackson,
with the participation of Cardboard Citizens.

How Long?
10am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday
Who for?
People already familiar with Forum Theatre, and/or facilitators from
other disciplines.
What Will Happen?
This intensive two-day course will focus on the skills of the Joker
(facilitator/'difficultator') and the dramaturgy of the Forum Theatre
plays. The workshop will be responsive to the experiences of the participants
and will include 'surgeries'. Issues to be covered will include: generating
participation, stimulating nervous audiences, 'difficult' interventions,
working with particular constituencies, how and when to end a Forum
show.
Participants will have the opportunity to 'joker' a section of a
ready-made Cardboard Citizens show with the rest of the group as the
participating audience.
Fees
- Full Price (Statutory Organisations and Local Authorities) - £120
plus VAT (£141)
- Voluntary Organisations/Individuals (Registered Charities/Not For
Profit Organisations/Individuals) - £100 plus VAT (£117.50)
- Reduced Rate (There are a limited number of places at a reduced
rate available to people referred by voluntary organisations working
in the area of social inclusion) - £50 plus VAT (£58.75)
Accommodation and food are not included in the cost of the courses
although refreshments will be served during breaks.
