Dateline: 6th March, 2011
April to August at The Tron Glasgow's Tron Theatre has announced its programme from April to August. The theatre programme is dominated by the Mayfesto season, which returns in 2011 with a Celtic theme. The Tron Theatre Company will present two of the festivals eight full-scale productions: a new David Harrower play Day Long (Wed 11 Sat 21 May) and Welsh writer Gary Owens first play Crazy Garys Mobile Disco (Tue 24 Sat 28 May). Irish visiting companies include Tinderbox Theatre Company with their award-winning Everything Between Us; the return of Blue Raincoat with another Flann OBrien piece At-Swim-Two-Birds; Fishamble: The New Play Companys powerful Forgotten; and Mephisto Theatre with Tara McKevitts first play Grenades. Glasgow Actors will present a revival of King of Scotland starring Jonathan Watson. There will also be late night cabaret that plunders the Wildcat and 7:84 archives, a series of rehearsed readings, work-in-progress performances and even speed playwriting from INK. Pants on Fires Fringe hit Ovids Metamorphoses (21-23 April) combines puppetry, projection and stagecraft, relocating Roman mythology to 1940s wartime Britain, and the team associated with Raindog present a brand new comedy from Daniel Boyle, Lark, Clark and the Puppet Handy (14-18 June), about a former husband and wife social club singing duo reunited for one final goodbye show. The main house season concludes with the Tron's irreverent homage to a Hollywood classic movie Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut (Thu 7 - Sat 23 July), directed by Morag Fullarton, a revival of last years sell-out Lunchtime Cut show at Oran Mor with Gavin Mitchell as Humphrey Bogart/Rick Blaine.
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
