New Director at the Tron The Board of Glasgows Tron Theatre has announced the appointment of Gregory Thompson as the theatres new Director.
An experienced theatre Director, Gregory Thompson is currently the Artistic Director of A and BC, a position he has held since he founded the company in 1998. Under his leadership A and BC has created innovative theatre, re-visiting classical texts with the aim of making them more accessible, and combining vivid physical imagery and live original music to create truly vibrant performances.
Gregory has worked extensively as a director in the UK and abroad, including most recently Henry VIII as part of the RSC Complete Works Festival. Previous credits include Romeo and Juliet (Citizens Theatre), Molly Sweeney (Citizens Theatre), for which he was awarded a CATS award, As You Like It (RSC), The Tale that Wags the Dog, In Transit, The Tempest, The Winters Tale, Land Use and Andorra. In 2005 he was awarded the Young Vics Jerwood Directors Award.
Speaking of Gregory Thompsons appointment, Peter Lawson, Chairman, said, Gregory is a highly experienced director and I am delighted that he has agreed to take up the position. Our 25th anniversary celebrations mark a new chapter in the Trons history and I am confident that this appointment will enable us to continue providing our audiences with a high quality diverse programme of work.
On his appointment Gregory said, I'm delighted to be coming to the Tron at such an exciting time for Scottish theatre. The Tron is a place for theatre that is arresting, innovative and fun and I hope to continue with the practice of welcoming audiences to the best work whether made in Glasgow, Scotland or elsewhere.
