TYPT 2014

The UK's foremost black-led theatre company, Talawa, this month launched its 20th TYPT programme which develops emerging theatre makers.

A company of nine multi-disciplinary practitioners will work collaboratively during a four-week intensive rehearsal period to devise an original piece of theatre exploring the provocative concepts of trust, betrayal and loyalty.

The TYPT programme is led this year by Royal Court associate director, Ola Animashawun. The company's artistic director is Michael Buffong.

Public performances by the TYPT Company will take place at the end of the period at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's Embassy Theatre (14 to 16 August).

Talawa Theatre Company is also working with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama providing workshops on diversity and supporting the newly formed Black and Asian Alumni Network as part of a drive to diversify the intake and course content.
