Eric and Cleopatra at the New Vic for two weeks

Uncle Eric and his gang of singers, actors and musicians are returning to Newcastle-under-Lyme’s New Vic Theatre with a new show, Eric and Cleopatra.

It involves a trip back in time to meet Uncle Eric’s ancestor among the ancient Britons. Eric the Smith has been captured and taken as a slave to Rome where it is discovered he is the spitting image of the great Mark Antony. Disguised as the Roman leader, he is sent to meet Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt and the world’s most beautiful woman.

But Cleopatra looks remarkably like someone from Eric’s murky past. Is it a bluff? Will Eric change the course of history forever? And will Mark Antony get the hump?

Uncle Eric’s visit to the New Vic started in 1999 as a one-night event but has become a North Staffordshire tradition.

Eric and Cleopatra runs at the New Vic from Monday 18 (August) until Saturday, 30 August.
