20 Stories High and Contact stage a co-production I told my Mum I was going on an R.E. trip..., a new verbatim play about young women and abortion written and directed by Julia Samuels.

A female ensemble use verbatim voices, live music, beats and rhyme to portray the stories of women who have experienced pregnancy and abortion. It’s about as far from a sexual health lecture as imaginable.

The show is written and directed by Julia drawing on more than 50 interviews with young women, boyfriends, parents, doctors and campaigners. The piece and its research have been funded by the Wellcome Trust, and it will tour nationally following its Manchester première in February.
