Could You Be the Voice of Musical Theatre?

BBC New Talent, in conjunction with BBC Radio 2, is delighted to be giving non-professional singers and performers the opportunity to compete for a place in the acclaimed BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre competition.

The BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre is an event for professional performers that celebrates the best of musical theatre and is broadcast nationwide. For the first time, non-professional singers and performers are being offered the chance to be a part of it and to showcase their talents to top musical theatre professionals.

A series of auditions and master classes, providing all entrants with invaluable experience through working with and performing in front of top industry professionals, are being held around the United Kingdom.

Fifteen people will be selected to receive three days of intensive quality voice and performance coaching and of these up to five will be put forward to take part in the preliminary round of the BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre alongside professional performers from around the world.

Applicants to the BBC New Talent website can apply for a confirmed audition at one of the following centres – Dates and Venues:

  • Saturday 22 July (morning) - Hilton Hotel, Belfast
  • Sunday 23 July (morning) - Hilton Hotel, Glasgow
  • Saturday 29 July - Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
  • Saturday 5 August - Central School of Speech and Drama, London
  • Saturday 12 August - Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester
  • Saturday 19 August - Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham

The BBC will only contact applicants if they are allocated a place at one of the above venues. If not contacted, the BBC have also arranged a series open call auditions during which they will endeavour to see all performers, but cannot guarantee it. Entrants must arrive no later than 8.30am for a chance of being seen and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

  • Sunday 16 July - Central School of Speech and Drama, London
  • Saturday 22 July (afternoon) - Hilton Hotel, Belfast
  • Sunday 23 July (afternoon) - Hilton Hotel, Glasgow
  • Sunday 30 July - Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
  • Sunday 13 August - Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester
  • Sunday 20 August - Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham

Entrants must be 18 years or over and not have worked professionally in the theatre in the last five years.
