Dateline: 11th May, 2005 Actors: Want to Work with Volcano? Volcano Theatre Company is looking for performers interested in collaborating on future performances with the Artistic Directors of the company, Paul Davies and Fern Smith. We are looking for people who are interested in making work that is unconventional, provocative and uncompromising. The companys work is sometimes highly physical, sometimes less so, but what is common to all the work is a commitment to the idea of engagement with theatrical form and subversion, whether politically or culturally defined. We are based in Wales but work with performers from all over the UK and internationally. We wish to collaborate with performers who have skills in and an affinity with collaborative working methods and devising. We feel that it is crucial for the performer to have creative freedom and responsibility within the rehearsal process. We are looking for people with strong convictions and who believe that theatre can be a forum for debate, dissent, fun and even controversy. We are interested in changing the way the company casts its work and hoping to create an informal ensemble/network of performers and creative collaborators with a longer term relationship with the company. To this end we will be running a number of one day workshops throughout the year, the first of which will be in Wales (provisionally Cardiff and Aberystwyth) in July. If you are interested in coming to one of the workshops, please send a letter with information about yourself and saying why you would be interested in working with Volcano. Also send a photo, CV and email address. Please visit the company website for information about the company and past productions on www.volcanotheatre.co.uk. We will send you the date and venue should you be invited to participate. Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted. Deadline for submissions: 17 June 2005 Please contact the company by post or email only:
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
