The organisers of the inaugural Selby Arts Festival are looking to put together a team of volunteers to help with the event which will run from 22 to 30 July.

Volunteers are needed to work before and during the event on marketing and PR, technical and production and stewarding.

Briefing events will take place during May and training for technical and production and stewarding teams will take place in early July. Over 16-year-olds who are interested should e-mail [email protected] or refer to the Selby Arts Festival web site.

Festival Director David Edmunds said, “Selby Arts Festival is a festival for everyone and needs as many people as possible to help make sure it is an event to remember.

"We always wanted the Festival to have a significant volunteering programme; volunteers are the heart and soul of a festival like this and we are excited about finding some brilliantly enthusiastic people to come and join the team.

"Volunteering is really rewarding and we promise our volunteers will not only learn some new skills, meet new people but will also have a great time being part of the first Selby Arts Festival volunteering team. If I wasn’t directing the festival then I would absolutely be volunteering on it.”

The line-up for the Festival includes BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner and Mercury Prize nominated Seth Lakeman, comedian Ed Byrne and The Grand Old Uke of York.
