Al fresco gigs on the band stage in Theatre Square: ten weeks of upbeat rhythms, smooth grooves and funky fusions from world-ranking contemporary musicians.

23 June
Athena 6.15pm
Jazzy moods rooted in traditional Greek music and encompassing elements of flamenco, Persian and other global styles. A vibrant cultural blend enhanced with atmospheric samples. www.athenaandreadis.com

Eduardo Niebla Duo 6.15pm
Dramatic, emotional, spicy and fleet-fingered. Exhilarating Mediterranean passion in this jazz-fuelled flamenco thunderstorm.

25 June
El Andalus 6.15pm
The leading London exponents of classical Arabic and Andalusian music. Experience a transcontinental musical journey traversing Andalusian Nubas, the trance-like Sufi music of the Sahara, Algerian Chabi and the Egyptian belly dance.

Hermione (Brown Girl) 5.00pm
Hailed as a star of tomorrow by MTV's Base Lounge, this multi-talented singer/songwriter has developed her own genre of jazz rap reminiscent of bands such as The Young Disciples and Galliano: laid-back grooves and funky licks with heartfelt lyrics and a positive urban energy.

Comprising guitar, electric violin, tabla and chapman stick, Ragatal are a dynamic fusion of classical music, jazz, flamenco and Indian styles. A truly transcontinental and beautiful sound.

Mas Y Mas 6.15pm
Acoustic trio performing original compositions and Latin standards. An irresistible meeting of Latino flamenco, Afro-Cuban and Celtic influences powered by driving dance rhythms.

Modeste Hugues 6.15pm
Stunning guitar playing involving intricate and syncopated rhythms that cuts between streams of jazz and classical while retaining its Madagascan roots. A highly original style with Malagasy vocals that fires up a blend of beauty, mystery and power.

Davide Mantovani 6.15pm
World class bass player with his 5-piece band. Original and beautiful jazz infused compositions with textures from South America, the Caribbean East Europe and Africa.

Grupo Malanga 5.00pm
Vibrant salsa sextet containing some of the top Latin players of the London scene. And exciting mix of old and new with classic Cuban and salsa tunes interspersed with pulsating original songs.

Japanese blues meet London tubes! The Fujii create modern, edgy folk using blues slide guitar, baliphone, modern trumpet and tuned gas main!

Bump 'n' grind shuffles, toe-tappin' 2 steps and slow smoky blues from this outstanding delta-roots band.

Errol Linton's Blues Vibes 6.15pm
From the Brixton music scene, the deep Memphis sound of blues harmonica. Accompanied by double bass, piano, guitarist and drummer, Linton produces rough and ragged urban blues with rural roots.

25 July
Dhol Foundation 1.15pm & 6.15pm
Their music was recently featured in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York. Led by Afro Celt Sound System drummer, Johnny Kalsi, Dhol Foundation create an intense mix of rhythm and sound, blending bhangra, dance and electronica.

Indian Ocean 1.15pm
One of today's most exciting and innovative contemporary Indian music bands. Drawing from diverse roots including reggae and folk and integrating Sufism, sholkas, and mythology, they create a fascinating Indo-rock fusion with jazz-spiced rhythms that transcends boundaries and provides food for the soul.

Alexander 6.15pm
Belfast born singer songwriter, Alexander returns to the festival with his band performing songs from the album Waltzer. With roots running through Cajun, country, jazz and folk, this 'Irish' band's arrangements are simple yet inventive, imbued with a ramshackle energy.

29 July
Martha & Eve 6.15pm
Exceptional, charismatic voices, innovative guitar and percussion, this is folk and rock hooking up with soul and traditional Greek music with a twist of flamenco!

30 July
Digitonal 6.15pm
4 piece group that bridges the gap between the melodic and the abstract, with emotion-laden strings and angular beats making warm, organic electronica.

2 August
Ayetoro 5.00pm
A joyous, awe-inspiring blend of Afro-beat, jazz, raw African grooves and modern funk with echoes of trip hop and African classical music. Original compositions drawing upon influences from fela kuti, Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk.

4 August
Barcode 6.15pm
This trio mix original work and new takes on old jazz standards, merging a world sound with accessible melodic high-energy music.

5 August
Gone Beggin' 6.15pm
One of the leading festival bands in the North of England. Celtic and world originals alongside new and surprising arrangements promising an energetic, slightly wacky and incredibly danceable show.

Tsivi Sharett 6.15pm
The TS Ensemble fuse a vibrant mixture of musical styles into the shape of a jazz-based collective - expect anything from rearranged Bach to Zazen meditation grooves.

9 August
kOgUI 5.00pm
An energetic 7-piece band playing traditional music from the Caribbean coast of Colombia, South America. Mixing African instruments, Colombian melodies and Spanish outfits, kOgUI get the party started with their carnival grooves and party tunes.

11 August
Terza Rima 6.15pm
From South American sambas to hot club gypsy swing, this foot-tapping, finger-clicking, hypnotic trio has blistering rhythm.

Rebecca Hollweg 6.15pm
A hotly tipped UK singer-songwriter, whose otherworldly beautiful voice has been compared to Joni Mitchell and Suzanne Vega, but who remains a uniquely offbeat British artist.

13 August
Café Aman 6.15pm
A classical - urban mix, with colourful Eastern flavours fusing contemporary London influences with Rembetika music of the Greek refugees of the 1920s. Original Mediterranean beats compositions with passionate vocals and urban grooves.

16 August
Batanai Marimba 5.00pm
9 piece big-band driven by a stunning 5-strong traditional African xylophone rhythm section augmented by bass, horns, guitar, mbira, traditional ngoma drumming and sweet vocal stylings. A compulsive stageshow, showcasing both deep ancestral acoustic roots and vibrant contemporary African sounds.

18 August
Stewart Curtis' K-Groove 6.15pm
An entirely fresh approach to world jazz. Combining his jazz background with his Jewish heritage, Stewart Curtis fuses Klezmer and Arabic melodies with modern dance grooves in a quirky and humorous style.

19 August
A Man Called Adam 6.15pm
National Theatre Late Lounge DJ residents and Balearic favourites play a live acoustic set with guest guitarist Jez Ashurst.

20 August
Luca Faggella 6.15pm
Singer, blues man, rapper and crooner, presents a celebration of melodies, rhythms and stories bringing a dash of Italian style to the South Bank.

23 August
Merengada 5.30pm
