Dateline: 28th March, 2004 Wham! the Musical? Singer George Michael, formerly of the pop group Wham!, has said that he hates the idea of a musical based on the group's work. He and Andrew Ridgeley, his former partner in the group, have been approached by a number of producers, he says, but, although Ridgeley likes the idea, providing that the storyline is strong enough, he does not. "The truth is that, done on stage, there'll be no charm and you'll be left with a lot of cheese," he told London radio station Heart 106.2FM. He admits such a show would have an appeal to a certain generation of pop fans but feels that, on a creative level, he would hate it and "I would literally have to avoid the premiere." He added that he had not been to see We Will Rock You and would not go, because he is "too much of a fan of Queen". Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
