Les Misérables continues at Newcastle Theatre Royal until 5 October.

Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of), an irreverent all-female adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic, is in Stage 1 at Northern Stage from Wednesday until 12 October. In Stage 3 on Tuesday, The Cosmic Shambles Network and Footprint Theatre present Signals, a dark comedy about human connection, space exploration and Jaffa Cakes. Also in Stage 3 on Thursday Playing Up are back with their eleventh night of new writing from the North East, Playing Up 11.

The Live Theatre revival of the sell-out hit of 2018, Clear White Light, continues until 12 October. In the Studio from Wednesday to Saturday, Stephen Joseph Theatre & Tara Finney Productions present Edinburgh Fringe hit show Build a Rocket.

At Alphabetti from Tuesday to Thursday, Tatwoord Puppets present Cabaret of Curiosities, a modern reimagining of the traditional puppet booth show. Then on Friday, Open Heart Theatre presents its monthly improv show, Let Us Make It Up To You.

On Thursday, Joli Vyann brings Anima, an exploration of the simple act of breathing blending dance and acrobatics, to Dance City.

From Monday to Saturday, On Your Feet, the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan comes to Sunderland Empire.

The Russian State Ballet presents The Nutcracker at the Customs House in South Shields on Sunday 6 October at 2:30 and 7:30.

On Tuesday at the White Swan Hotel, Alnwick, Gracefool Collective presents This Is Not a Wedding. (This show is organised by Alnwick Playhouse.)

On Saturday at 2:00 and 7:30, the Russian National Ballet brings Swan Lake to the Phoenix Theatre, Blyth.

Build a Rocket is at the Queen’s Hall, Hexham, on Monday. It is followed on Tuesday and Wednesday by Matthew Bellwood’s storytelling show, Terror from the Skies, which asks important questions about how much those in power know, or care, about our communities. There are two shows on Saturday: in The White Room is a Spectacular Drag Storytime (for 3- to 7-year-olds) at 11:00 and 2:00 and then in the Main Theatre at 7:30, James Wilton Dance presents The Storm, a whirlwind of lightning-fast athleticism, where acrobatics, break-dancing, martial arts and contact work fuse together.

At the Gala Theatre in Durham from Monday to Saturday, William Golding's Lord of the Flies, adapted by Nigel Williams, is a Gala Theatre and Durham Student Theatre co-production directed by Annie Rigby.

On Friday, The Bobby Thompson Story, written and performed by Pete Peverley, comes to Consett Empire.

Bishop Auckland Town Hall is closed until spring 2020 for refurbishment.

On Friday, Gracefool Collective’s This Is Not a Wedding comes to The Witham in Barnard Castle.

The Home, a durational stay event organised by ARC Stockton, is at the Hampton By Hilton Hotel in Stockton from Friday at 1:00 until Sunday. (For details, see our news story of 22 August). Terror From the Skies is at the Dovecot Street venue at 7:00 on Thursday and Friday.

On Friday, the Russian National Ballet‘s Swan Lake comes to Middlesbrough Theatre.

Gracefool Collective’s This Is Not a Wedding moves to Hartlepool Town Hall on Monday.

Darlington’s Majestic Theatre hosts the panto Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf on Saturday at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30.

This Is Not a Wedding is at Saltburn Arts on Wednesday.

On Sunday at 2:00, Hey Diddle Diddle, an hilarious adventure filled with music and puppetry for ages 3+, comes to the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond.

Connection, a Yorkshire Thelma and Louise of an adventure where two women meet as strangers in the A&E waiting room of Harrogate District Hospital and share a life-changing 24 hours, comes to Harrogate Theatre Studio from Tuesday to Saturday. Then on Saturday, Hey Diddle Diddle comes to Harrogate Library at 11:00 and 2:00.
