The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas comes to Newcastle Theatre Royal from Tuesday to Saturday.

This week, Northern Stage showcases Northumbria University's final year BA(hons) Performance, Drama and Scriptwriting courses. On Wednesday and Friday at 7PM and on Thursday at 1:30 there are performances of Bryony Lavery's More Light, and on Thursday and Saturday at 7PM and Friday at 1:30 it's the run of Roland Schimmelpfennig's Idomeneus.

On Friday, Mixtape returns to Live Theatre with Solo Stars, short plays inspired by and using only the words of songs and no longer than the songs.

On Thursday, Flex Dance, an emerging professional dance company of artists with a learning disability, presents Parked at Dance City. This is a standing performance although seats can be provided if asked for at the time of booking.

Spamalot returns to Sunderland Empire from Monday to Saturday.

On Thursday Third Angel presents The Life and Loves of a Nobody at Arts Centre Washington.

Also on Thursday, at the Dun Cow next to Sunderland Empire, Middle Child Theatre and Sunderland Stages present Not Quite a Pub Quiz, described as "The ultimate interactive pub quiz."

In Daltons at the Customs House, South Shields on Monday, Cap-a-Pie presents The Town Meeting. In the Main House, the theatre revives its 2011 production The Man and the Donkey from Tuesday to Saturday.

On Friday in the Henry Travers Studio at The Maltings in Berwick, Dean Taylor Productions presents The Actor's Apology by John Cargill Thompson.

Ballet Cymru performs Cinderella at the Queen's Hall in Hexham on Tuesday.

Dirty Dusting comes to the Playhouse Whitley Bay on Wednesday.

English Touring Opera is at Durham's Gala Theatre this week, performing La Bohème on Monday and The Siege of Calais on Tuesday.

At ARC Stockton on Wednesday Little Cog presents The Art of Not Getting Lost (7PM) and at the same time the Writers ARCADE rehearsed reading for this week is Nicola Cameron's Wasters (7:30). On Thursday (7PM) and Friday (2:30PM) there are preview performances of a new ARC production, Winners.

The Radio Revellers present The 39 and 1/2 Steps at Middlesbrough Theatre from Thursday to Saturday.

We Can Be Heroes comes to Harrogate Theatre's Studio on Saturday.
