Northern Ballet comes to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal this week with The Nutcracker on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and Elves and the Shoemaker on Friday at 12:30 and 2:00.

At Northern Stage this week, the Shakespeare Schools Festival runs from Tuesday to Saturday and solo performance Sacré Blue is in Stage 3 On Tuesday and Wednesday. On Saturday at 1:30, the Christmas show for the under-6s Up and Out, Christmas Sprout opens and runs until 2 January.

Live Theatre’s revival of Day of the Flymo opens on Thursday and runs until 21 November.

From Thursday to Saturday, Miracle on 34th Street the Musical comes to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House.

Having It Rough continues at Alphabetti Theatre until Saturday.

Joss Arnott Dance & Dame Evelyn Glennie are at Dance City on Friday and Saturday.

Shrek the Musical opens at Sunderland Empire on Wednesday and runs until 22 November.

OpenWorks Theatre and Company of Angels in association with Derby Theatre present And Now: The World! at Arts Centre Washington on Thursday.

The Bogus Woman comes to the Studio at the Customs House in South Shields on Monday.

London Contemporary Theatre brings Pygmalion to Alnwick Playhouse on Wednesday.

On Friday and Saturday, RedCape Theatre’s Be Brave and Leave for the Unknown comes to the Queen’s Hall in Hexham.

On Monday and Tuesday, Pink Lane Productions in association with KG Productions presents Arctic Convoy in the Low Lights Tavern in North Shields.

Rumpus Theatre presents Father Brown—The Curse of the Invisible Man at Billingham Forum on Monday and Tuesday.

Be Brave and Leave for the Unknown is at ARC Stockton on Tuesday and Wednesday and on Saturday Peaceful Lion Productions presents Rosie’s Magic Horse for ages 3 to 8.

The Touring Consortium Theatre Company and Royal & Derngate Northampton production of Brave New World comes to Darlington Civic from Tuesday to Saturday.

On Tuesday, the Shakespeare Schools Festival is at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, followed on Friday by LipService’s production of The Pictures of Doreen Gray.
