Mamma Mia! continues at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, until 15 April.

National Theatre Connections is at Northern Stage from Tuesday to Saturday at 7PM, with performances by Barbara Priestman Academy and Heaton Manor Theatre Project (Tuesday), Shotton Hall and North Durham Academy (Wednesday), Fusion Project and Heaton Manor School (Thursday), Customs House Youth Theatre and Shotton Hall (Friday), and Jackass Youth Theatre and Page 2 Stage (Saturday).

Also at Northern Stage from Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 are BalletBoyz with Life.

Patrick Marber’s The Red Lion opens at Live Theatre on Thursday and runs until 6 May.

On Thursday, Dance City presents Northern Platforms, new dance from the region and beyond, featuring, from the North East, Peter Groom’s Go Away Johnny and Alice Henry’s Muse; from Yorkshire, Akeim Toussiant Buck’s Windows of Displacement, and, from Scotland, Martyn Garside’s Amok.

At Sunderland Empire, Evita runs from Tuesday to Saturday.

Sunderland Stages presents Jonny and the Baptists: Eat the Poor at Pop Recs on Wednesday.

The Ensonglopedia of Science is at the Customs House in South Shields on Friday.

On Friday at the Phoenix in Blyth, The Life of Reilly, written by Alison Stanley and performed by Red Diamond Theatre, is a play about an autistic adult, looking back over his life at some of the situations he found himself in.

At the Queen’s Hall in Hexham, Jemms Performance Company presents The Shrew of Padua High on Friday and Saturday.

From Tuesday to Saturday, Durham’s Gala Theatre presents its latest in-house production, Willy Russell’s Educating Rita.

European Arts Company presents some classic one-act farces by Anton Chekhov, including The Evils of Tobacco, The Dimwit, The Bear, Swan Song and The Proposal on Saturday at Middlesbrough Theatre.

At ARC Stockton on Saturday at 11:30 and 2:30, Nearly There Yet presents The Party (for age 3+).

Harrogate Theatre’s new production The Emperor’s New Clothes, for age 5+, opens on Thursday and runs until 15th April. Times vary: contact the theatre or visit the web site for details.
