At Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from Tuesday to Saturday, David Haig stars in his play Pressure, the story of one man who changed the course of the Second World War.

From Monday to Saturday, the Royal Shakespeare Company brings Hamlet starring Paapa Essiedu to Stage 1 at Northern Stage. All performances are sold out.

In Stage 3 on Wednesday and Thursday (various times), Bamboozle adapts Michael Morpurgo’s Gentle Giant into an immersive, multi-sensory experience for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Each performance caters for a maximum group of 6 children and 6 adult participants, plus additional family members, teachers and carers can also watch the performance.

Also in Stage 3 on Saturday Luca Rutherford presents a preview of her new one-woman show, Luca Rutherford’s Political Party. Luca reached a point where thinking about politics made her want to lie down on the pavement and not get up. Instead of doing this she is throwing a party. A political party. There will be music, dancing and eggs! No know-it-alls. No big words. You are invited!

At Alphabetti on Tuesday, Open Heart Theatre presents Let Us Make It Up To You, improvised comedy. Then from Wednesday to Friday, Dave Alnwick presents his magic show, The Cult of Dave. On Saturday at 5:30, Bruvvers Theatre Company & The Littlewood Trilogy present a screening of In the Company of Joan, a feature documentary about the life and work of Joan Littlewood, and at 8:30, The Suggestibles School of Improv presents 4 1 Night Only. The Suggestibles' Ian McLaughlin and Bev Fox together with a new ensemble 4 1 night only take inspiration from you and yours to boldly go where no one has gone before and promise to never go again.

At 7:00 on Thursday at Dance City, FRESH North East is a scratch platform for dance, giving artists an opportunity to share new work-in-progress in an informal studio setting.

At the Customs House in South Shields on Wednesday, Ballet Theatre UK presents its new version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. On Thursday and Friday Black eyed Theatre presents John Godber’s Teechers.

On Thursday Northern Stage’s production of The War of the Worlds comes to the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth.

On Friday, The Maltings, Berwick, and Rocket Opera present Berwick Festival Opera: Rita, Donizetti's one act opera, in The Maltings Stage Door Bar.

On Saturday, Blackeyed Theatre brings Teechers to the Queen’s Hall in Hexham.

Hangfire Theatre presents The Twelve Pound Look, a one-act play by J M Barrie, at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

Blackeyed Theatre’s Teechers is at Middlesbrough Theatre on Wednesday.

Luca Rutherford also previews her new one-woman show, Luca Rutherford’s Political Party, at ARC Stockton on Tuesday at 7:00.

Blood Brothers returns to Darlington Hippodrome from Tuesday to Saturday.

Fingermith brings John Godber’s Up ‘n’ Under to Harrogate Theatre, using visual and physical storytelling with a cast of Deaf and hearing actors using British Sign Language and spoken English from Monday to Saturday.
