From Wednesday to Saturday Gangsta Granny comes to Newcastle Theatre Royal.

Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune continues until Saturday at Northern Stage. On Tuesday in Stage 2 Kelly-Abbott Dance Theatre presents Launch Day, and on Saturday, also in Stage 2, mapdance presents new works by renowned and upcoming international contemporary choreographers.

At Live Theatre on Wednesday Hope Theatre presents Gypsy Queen, an unconventional love story between two fighters who discover the greatest challenge lies outside the ring. Then on Sunday Live presents 10 Minutes to… Break the Mould, an evening of short plays from new voices.

From Tuesday to Thursday at Alphabetti Curious Monkey and Newcastle Arts Development Organisation (South Africa) present This World Here…Nomhlaba Le.

Matilda the Musical continues at Sunderland Empire until Saturday.

On Saturday at 7:00 contemporary tap company Old Kent Road presents Fall Out at Arts Centre Washington.

On Friday the Customs House in South Shields presents Wormtown, a new play by the theatre’s first ever Young Playwright in Residence, performed by eight young (in their 20s) NE professional actors.

(We Are) Such Stuff brings Kindertransport to the Henry Travers Studio at The Maltings, Berwick at 7:00.

On Thursday Reform Theatre presents Jim Cartwright’s Two at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham.

Open Clasp’s Rattle Snake comes to Durham’s Gala Theatre on Wednesday. On Saturday at 2:00 and 7:00 Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr comes to the theatre.

Old Kent Road brings Fall Out to The Witham in Barnard Castle on Wednesday.

The Vienna Festival Ballet brings Swan Lake to Middlesbrough Theatre on Friday.

Garlic Theatre presents Little Red Robin Hood, a slapstick, glove puppet show with clowning and gentle humour, for age 4 – 8 at ARC Stockton at 11:30 and 2:30 on Friday and Saturday.

Thriller Live is at Darlington Hippodrome from Monday to Saturday.

There are two shows this week at Theatre Hullabaloo in Darlington. On Tuesday at 10:30 and 1:30 it’s The Brave Tin Soldier for age 5 – 8 by Paper Boy Productions and on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 and 1:30 M6 Theatre Company in association with Polka Theatre present Whatever the Weather for 3+.

On Wednesday the Vienna Festival Ballet brings The Sleeping Beauty to the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond.

At Harrogate Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday (12:00 and 2:30) the CBeebies show Sarah and Duck presents Big Top Birthday for age 3 – 6. In the Studio in the same days Publick Transport present We Are Brontë - Morecambe and Wise meets David Lynch in this madcap reimagining of the myth. Then on Friday at 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 in the Theatre, Northern Ballet presents Ugly Duckling. Finally on Saturday at 2:45 and 7:45 in Harrogate Library Theatre Cap-a-Pie presents immersive piece The Town Meeting.
