On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Alphabetti is holding its Edinburgh Fringe preview, featuring theatre and stand-up. 20 shows, each one hour long, will be performed over the three days.

Newcastle’s Literary and Philosophical Society plays host to new play The Desert Queen on Friday and Saturday.

Hands On NE presents the première of David Farn’s new play, The Desert Queen, at Arts Centre Washington on Thursday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday (11:00 and 2:00) and on Thursday at 11:00 only, the Customs House in South Shields presents children’s show Arbuthnot & Puddles: Pirate Adventure.

At the Queen’s Hall in Hexham on Friday at 6:30, Multistory Theatre presents Viking Tales, in which, starting with the icy mists of Niflheim and ending with the aftermath of Ragnarok, two storytellers conjure up a host of colourful characters, including Odin One-Eye, Frejya the Fair, Thor the Thunderer and Loki the Sly One.

On Friday, the November Club brings Beyond the End of the Road to The Witham in Barnard Castle.

At 1:00 on Wednesday, Riverbank Productions brings The Adventures of Doctor Doolittle (for ages 5 – 10) to Middlesbrough Theatre.

Perfect, the story of a boy meeting his disabled sister for the first time, with puppetry, original live music and physical theatre, comes to Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre on Sunday at 2:30.

Milkshake! Live—the Magic Storybook has two performances at Darlington Hippodrome on Sunday at 12:00 and 3:30.

At the Majestic Theatre in Darlington this week, Not Dead Yet! uses real life experiences to explore memory loss on Wednesday at 7:30 and children’s show The Giant’s Loo Roll follows on Thursday at 2:00.

Immersion Theatre brings Peter Pan to Harlow Carr Park in Harrogate on Friday at 5:30 but the show is now sold out.
