Write Now 3 at the Jack Studio

The Jack Studio has launched Write Now 3, its annual New Writing Festival. The festival is designed to discover new writing talent and give emerging playwrights the opportunity to see their work performed.

To celebrate contemporary writing south east of the Thames the theatre is looking for three previously unperformed scripts from playwrights with a strong connection to this area. The selected plays will be given a full production for a week each at the Jack Studio Theatre during April 2012.

During the month long festival there will also be a series of workshops, events, play readings, short plays and discussions with playwrights. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and take part.

Guidelines and application forms can now be downloaded from the theatre’s website.

The deadline for this year’s applications is Friday 25 November 2011.

The selection panel consists of:

• Kate Bannister (Artistic Director, Jack Studio Theatre)
• Darren Batten (Resident Producer at the Jack and Director of Language Laid Bare)
• David Bottomley (Literary Manager and Director of the London Playwrights’ Collective)
• Jennifer Lunn (Associate Director and Artistic Director of Culturcated Theatre Company)
• Lin Coghlan (Eastenders, Soho Theatre, National Theatre)
• Simon James Collier (award winning producer of the Okai Collier Company)
• a member of the BBC Writers Room
