Creative writing: original plays may be performed in Europe

Budding playwrights are being invited to submit entries for a European project and may have their play produced in four countries.

The University of Wolverhampton, the Centro Diego Fabbri of Italy, Romania’s Universitatea de Arte Din Târgu-Mureș and the Fundacion CajaGranada of Spain are involved in the Creative Europe Playwriting Award for POP Drama.

Authors can submit more than one play but each piece must be original, unpublished and never have been performed.

The work can handle any subject although the panel will look favourably on plays that take into account “the contradiction between human nature and morality, with specific attention being paid to plays that deal with issues related to social exclusion”.

The 2016 POP Drama prize winner will have his or her play performed at the Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton and in venues in Italy, Romania and Spain.

The deadline for entries is 31 March. Further information is available at the POP Drama web site.
