The Octagon Theatre in Bolton is looking to the local community to cast six boys aged 8 to 12 in David Thacker’s forthcoming production of Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People.

Celebrated for his close professional relationship with Arthur Miller, who adapted the play, this will be Thacker’s first production as associate artistic director, in conjunction with his role as Professor of Theatre at Bolton University.

It will this be an opportunity to work with a large cast and become an integral part of a professional producing theatre company. The successful young actors will also have the opportunity to work alongside an esteemed director with an intimate understanding of the play.

No professional acting experience is required, just enthusiasm, commitment, and lots of hard work. The successful candidates will appear in the production in pairs on a rota basis throughout the run, and guardians and actors alike must be certain they can commit to a demanding rehearsal and production schedule.

Audition sessions will be held on July 19, after which the final actors will be chosen.

To find out more, or register interest, complete the application and consent forms that can be found on the Octagon's web site.
