ZOO launches diverse Fringe programme

ZOO Venues has announced its programme of curated dance and theatre for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

There will be a mini-season of work from the Czech Republic with returning companies DOT 504 (You are not the one who shall live long), Lenka Vagnerova & Company (Gossip) and Cirk La Putyka (Batacchio). Spitfire returns with One Step Before the Fall and its new companion piece The Narrator. Finally in the Czech showcase, newcomers to the festival 420 People will perform Wind Up.

Some of the events in the British Council’s Edinburgh Showcase will take place at ZOO, including Fagin’s Twist (Avant Garde presented by the Place), Folk and Profundis (National Dance Company Wales) and Process Day (Scottish Dance Theatre). Light, Ladd and Emberton presents Caitlin in a site-specific performance at Lauriston Hall and there will also be works by imitating the dog (Nocturnes) and Liz Aggiss (Slap and Tickle).

Scottish Dance Theatre will perform new piece TutuMucky as part of this year’s Made in Scotland Showcase and Akash Odedra premières #JeSuis, exploring the strangulation of freedom of speech.

Other productions at ZOO include Goldilock, Stock & Three Smoking Bears (Wardrobe Theatre), The Concrete Jungle Book (High Rise / Arts Depot), Wanna Dance with Somebody! (Running Dog Theatre), The Drive (Angel Exit) and On One Condition (Dan Daw).

Also, Modern Robot presents Alive: Music for Night of the Living Dead featuring the silent film Night of the Living Dead accompanied by a new score performed live.
