Debbie Does Dallas
Sexy Boys & Girls & Co
E4 Udderbelly
***
A musical tale based on a seventies erotic movie? Are they serious?
Well no, and that's the point! This show takes nothing seriously and
it's a good job too. Debbie Does Dallas is all about the tongue
in cheek!
The story of this camp comedy musical is about sexy cheerleading Debbie,
who has been accepted to be a cheerleader for the famous Dallas Cowboys.
Only to get to Dallas she and her friends must raise a lot of cash in
a lot of weird, dirty and wonderful ways ( which I can't go into depth
about as my editor will beat me! ) So is Debbie up to the job? Or is
she just on the job?
With a cast mainly made up of hot young things often in their underwear,
it's a treat for the eyes! They are all young, full of life and competent
in their roles, complementing the star cheerleader Debbie, who easily
steals the show with a fantastic voice.
With a feel of American Pie meets The Rocky Horror Show,
Debbie Does Dallas lacks depth, solid charactors & plot,
but makes up for it with lots of fun, energy and gross-out humour! The
songs are all easy to hum along to, but you won't come away thinking
you've discovered the best new musical score since Spring Awakening.
There are funny bits, rude bits and and - oh, some more rude bits.
So if you want to sit back and enjoy some simple humour for an hour,
then Debbie is doing Edinburgh!

Follow Me
by Ross Gurney-Randall & Dave Mounfield
Theatre Tours International

*****
Guy Masterson has been bringing quality work to the Edinburgh Fringe
for many a year, with the likes of Animal Farm & Under
Milk Wood to name but two. So is this year any different? Does Follow
Me follow in the footsteps of Masterson's previous triumphs?
In 1955 Cheif Executioner Albert Pierrpoint is set to hang Ruth Ellis,
a media star for her crimes. Will the media and the people be able to
turn around what seems to be a done deal? Will Ellis hang for her crime?
Is she ready to accept her fate?
Randall & Moundfield have created a wonderfuly written script that
has drama, truth, depth and finds humour in the darkest of places. They
take the audience into the cell of the doomed Ellis and give them a
role to play in the unravelling tale of her life and her pending death.
Masterson's direction is simple, fluid and to the point, never complicating
the flow of the story. He does a great job and plays to the strengths
of the scipt and characters
Both Pierrpoint and Ellis are played to perfection, with fire, emotion
and dark humour. Beth Fitzgerald puts in a powerhouse performance as
Ruth Ellis, who drags you into every emtion that the jailbird feels.
Follow Me is a dark, warm, funny and powrful piece of theatre
with a superb cast. I hope more and more people follow me to see such
an excellent show.

Brendon Burns- So I Suppose
This Is Offensive Now
Brendon Burns
Pleasance Dome
*****
For many years I have been following Brendon Burns, who to my mind
is the smartest, funniest & most dangerous comic working in this
country. He has every year gone from strength to strength and pushed
the boundaries of comedy no matter what or who gets in his way. This
year is most defiantly no exception!
Burns and his manic intelligent mind set out this year to show everyone
what is offensive to whom and why. Not only is his plan to make you
laugh harder then any other comic you'll ever see, but he will make
you think throughout. He will make you question yourself and your own
beliefs, your lifestyle and the consequences of your own mind. Also
this year on hand are a few new tricks to help him prove his theories,
and a couple of those tricks are a visual treat!
Forever changing and improving, Burns has a stand up show that is like
nothing you have ever seen before. Never one to stick to a repetative
formular, he brings something new and exciting everytime. He will jump-start
your brain, crack your ribs with laughter and blind you with your own
tears. Again Brendon Burns has proven why he is the best at what he
does.
