The Green Theatre Company has just launched its fifth annual playwriting
competition. It has a new name ("new" has been replaced by
"young") and the competition has been divided into two sections:
Senior Class: Aged 18 - 30 inclusive (those born 30 April
1972 to 29 April 1984)
Two winning playwrights will each receive a critique of their play,
£40 book tokens, and have their plays performed as a double
bill at the Barton Green Theatre in September 2002. Scripts should
not necessitate demanding sets or technical effects, as the performances
will be part of a double-bill and the same stage area will almost
certainly be shared. It must be between 30 and 45 minutes in length,
and ideally have a cast of between three and six, that includes both
male and female roles.
Junior Class: Aged 14 - 17 inclusive (those born 30 April
1984 to 30 April 1988)
There will be one winner - while the winning entry will not be performed,
a written critique will be given as well as a prize of £30 book
tokens. The play should be between 15 and 30 minutes in length. Be
as imaginative as you like with the story, characters and settings,
although the script should be realistically performable in a theatre
space.
