Writers Wanted

"We are an exciting young theatre company, specialising in contemporary drama, and we're on the lookout for new writing," writes Jeff Moody, director of Strawberry Theatre. "We produce on average four shows a year in London, plus we are taking a show to Edinburgh and organising a UK tour for the Autumn. Along with this, we are looking at staging a raft of new work throughout the year."

"We're looking for a variety of work," Jeff goes on." Anything that's interesting. Cast size isn't not important but we do tend to prefer larger casts."

Jeff asks, in for first instance, for a brief outline of the play, in terms of plot and cast list, and a bit about its appeal. "We find it easier," he says, "to target a particular audience, so writers should say who the play would appeal to. As well as an outline, they should send a few scenes (approx 10 pages), so we can get a flavour of the writing."

They will usually give a fairly rapid immediate response "even if just to say we're putting something on the back-burner."

They prefer to be contacted by email in the first instance: strawberrytheatre@hotmail.com
