Chairoscuro Theatre proves the notion that there is still much to be discovered and presented with Shakespeare as source.
In a piece which incorporates quotes from the Shakespeare’s sonnets on love and war and how well or poorly the two mix, the company understands their source material. The women all in gossamer white dresses and the men in army uniforms make for an elegant picture.
These pairs of actors manage to mix movement, which at times is accomplished enough to be considered dance, with their tender, if a little romantic, interpretation of love and war.
There is still a lot that could be discovered or interpreted, which would add more depth. Still, all those sonnet buffs will find this well represented and well worth the trip and those unfamiliar quickly won over.
