Radio Active

Anyone who remembers the 1980s will wallow in this reconstruction of two episodes from the classic radio show, warmed up with music from the likes of The Bangles and Nena.

The odd thing is that, even though the jokes and situations are over 30 years old, many of them are much funnier than the vast majority of what is available from their modern equivalents on the Fringe today.

This tribute show features four of the original team of five, the late Geoffery Perkins making an appearance via a recording.

On display are Angus Deayton, Helen Atkinson Wood, Michael Fenton Stevens and Philip Pope, just as good today as they were on Radio 4 all those years ago.

For those that have never heard of Radio Active, it was a series that poked fun at other radio shows, majoring on disasters and satirically lampooning key figures of the day, as well as pop groups.

Indeed, two of the highlights of this show are the skits on Status Quo and the Bee Gees, here reinvented as the Heebeegeebees.

If you want to laugh a lot, don’t miss this joyous trip down memory lane.
