The bandstand in Rowntree Park, venue for A Midsummer Night's Dream

YSP Seeks Dream Director

After a successful open air Romeo and Juliet in Rowntree Park last July, we have agreed with the City of York Council Leisure and Culture Department to put on A Midsummer Night's Dream in the same venue next July 2006.

For Romeo and Juliet, the talent and enthusiasm of a professional director was a major part of the success.

We wish to employ a professional again and it is part of our mandate to actively seek possible directors.

The dates of the show are:

  • get-in on Saturday 15th July (to avoid a possible clash with other events on the Sunday)
  • technical and dress rehearsals on the Monday and Tuesday
  • opening on the Wednesday and running until the following Sunday, 30th July.

Our audition rehearsal schedule is quite complex as we are a community group.

We would wish for a similar schedule to the one we had for Romeo and Juliet, which was for workshop/auditions around Easter (depending on when that falls) and starting rehearsals on Sunday afternoons and two weekday nights in mid-April to give us three months of preparation.

For that reason we need someone in comfortable travelling distance of York - both for our and the director's benefit.

If you are interested or know someone who is the contact is Alan Lyons at 01904-638865 or email al.lyons@virgin.net
