Titus Andronicus

The next production will be Titus Andronicus .

The Roman empire is crumbling, the barbarians are at the gates, the new emperor is degenerate and incompetent.

All look to Titus Andronicus their greatest general , and the embodiment of the ancient virtues.

But by staying true to the old ways he makes a fatal error and so unleashes a torrent of violence that overwhelms his family and Rome.

Driven out of his mind he plots a terrible vengeance ....

Titus Andronicus was one of Shakespeare's most popular plays in his lifetime.

It is also the ultimate revenge tragedy and will be performed by the York Shakespeare Project at Joseph Rowntree Theatre, Haxby Road, York at 7pm from Wednesday April 21 to Saturday April 24 with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
